The Terry Buffington Foundation Visit’s WSU Vancouver

On August 8, 2023 the Terry Buffington Foundation visited WSU Vancouver to tour the campus, meet staff and interview with WSU Vancouver journalism/Crimson Creative members/students, Isatou Dumbuya and Norman Helgason. Isatou made a delicious African lunch, introduced us to staff, followed by a tour of the beautiful Vancouver campus. Along the way we met Elisha Hardekopf, director/Facilitator of Building a Community of Equity (BACE), who previously secured a conference room for the video interview which you can watch on my YouTube channel here https://youtu.be/Q3mySnaltTU and don’t forget to subscribe!
This was our 1st visit to Vancouver/Portland. We had such a nice afternoon and our hosts’ treated us very well. It was a lovely day indeed and special thank you to Elisha Hardekopf for facilitating everything for our visit!
Also a special thank you to Prof. Dr. Justin Barnes of WSU Pullman who teaches Strategic Communication (COMSTRAT) who connected us with his students, Isatou Dumbuya and Norman Helgason who are distance-learning students.
Our end goal is for the Terry Buffington Foundation to be connected to all of the WSU branches (Spokane, Tri-Cities, Vancouver & Everett) with WSU Pullman being home base. The intent is have Terry Buffington Foundation campus community events and programs based from primary sources from the Terry Buffington Papers which you can view here https://finding-aids.lib.unc.edu/70107/#d1e49
