Please join us on September 16, 2021 at 7 PM PDT for “A conversation with Professor Buffington, MA Cultural Anthropologist Folklorist.” Professor Buffington will present a short history of voters’ rights in Mississippi, the 1964 Freedom Summer Campaign, and the participation of Jewish college students in Mississippi Civil Rights movement. Professor Buffington will then cover the current dismantling of the 1965 voters’ rights bill pushed by GOP senators while contextualizing these historical and cultural events with our contemporary political climate and discussing what these movements mean for our country and its citizens. The talk will conclude with some time for questions.
